Thematic Analysis of ‘Sing 2’

   Sing 2 is about a koala, Buster Moon, who after making tremendous achievements in his local theatre, sets out to take his entertainment to the biggest market in the entertainment industry. However, new dreams come with new problems for Buster Moon and his team. I learned so much from Sing 2 that I feel like if I decide to write them all, I might just write my first book. I’m super excited to tell you the themes that I drew out from this movie, now let’s start with the first, shall we?

1. Hardwork and Dexterity Bring Dreams to Life

   Dreams are just wishes if there’s no skill, Buster Moon knew that having learned the skill that was required to create a niche in the entertainment industry, he was qualified to take his dreams to the next level. However, having the skills is never enough, hard work, grit, a stringent time schedule and diligence are the extra ingredients needed.

  For Buster and his team, their extra ingredients were to rehearse at the back of a moving bus and frame an entire play in three weeks based on a scattered storyline. Your dreams may not really fit in the entertainment industry like Buster’s, however, you’ll agree with me that this law applies to every area of life.

2. Low Self-Esteem Keep You Stuck in Your Fears

   The movie started out teaching that there’s a thin line between massive success and running and hiding away beneath your weakness. Not seeing value in yourself, in what you offer, and seeing yourself as less than equal would choke out your dreams before they even have the time to take root. If there’s anything that I learned from this movie, it is that low self-esteem is the fear that unreal facts ourselves would turn out to be true, and if not well managed, it keeps us stuck in our fears.

    If you’re already in there, get yourself out, muster enough confidence in yourself to break the chains, sometimes we don’t realize it when we fall back into our prison cells. It is that time that we need people in our inner circle to slap senses back into us, as the days go by we have to keep freeing ourselves from those chains in order to live out our dreams.

3. Dreams Grow in the Hands of a Good Inner Circle

   I’ve met people who have dreams, fought their fears, and have the crazy faith that their dreams would come to pass, but they never get their dreams in the right atmosphere. Friends who aren’t meant to be in our inner circle choke them up before they even sprout, we fall out not because we didn’t believe but because we’ve got the wrong hands choking out our dreams with doubts and discouragement. For a dream to thrive for as long as possible, it needs the right people and the right atmosphere.

4. Dreams are Pruned by Hard Decisions

   Dreams are never cultivated in your comfort zone or your happy place, far from it, dreams are pruned by taking risks and making tough decisions. These decisions look like they might hurt you but it’s better to make ‘em than to lose the entirety of your dreams.

  Some friendships have to be cut out, some conversations have to be deleted, that small time to relax and enjoy life might suffer loss too, but in the end, there’s only one way left to go and that’s up! If this part wasn’t adhered to, we wouldn’t have amazing characters like Nooshy, Buster Moon, and Clay Calloway. These characters teach us that dreams can only be actualized when you’re ready to stare fear in the face, damning the consequences.
